Why:
Having a good sump pump discharge line is just as important as having a functioning sump pump. The sump pump discharge line moves the water pumped out by the sump pump away from your home, usually underground. Anything from a clogged, broken or collapsed discharge line can cause flooding in your basement or crawl space and damage to your yard. We offer everything from sump pump discharge line inspections to repair and complete line replacements.
Signs of a clogged drain:
Our Procedure:
The first thing we do is inspect your drain line. We do this by putting a camera in the pipe and observing what the obstruction is. The obstruction is usually 1 of the 4 listed below.
Costs: We offer this service for $275.
2. Collapsed or Crushed Pipe: A collapsed, or crushed pipe happens for several reasons. Builders and cheap contractors install a thin wall pipe that is easily crushed. This can happen by a car wheel running over the curb or driveway and crushing the pipe underground. Heavy lawn mowers (zero turns) and skid steers (installing paver patios) in the yard crush these pipes all the time. KEEP IN MIND, YOU DO NOT ALWAYS NEED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE LINE. WE CAN DO A PARTIAL REPLACEMENT.
Costs: We replace damaged drainpipe at $30-$50 per linear foot for heavy duty schedule 40 PVC pipe with all underground joints solvent welded (glued). Variables in the pricing will be in the size of the pipe (3” or 4”) and the difficulty of the excavation with nearby utilities, and large nearby roots.
3. Root intrusion: Roots loves water, and your underground drainpipes are a good source of that. Cheap thin wall pipe installed by builders and cheap contractors are not solvent welded (glued) underground, and the joints leak. The nearby roots chase this water through the leaky joint and into the pipe. Now they have a direct IV of nutrients, and they grow fast, throughout the pipe. The proper way to fix this is to excavate the damaged pipe, remove the roots, and install new. You do not always need a whole new pipe. We can locate where the root intrusion is, start excavation nearby, and replace only the damaged pipe. KEEP IN MIND, YOU DO NOT ALWAYS NEED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE LINE. WE CAN DO A PARTIAL REPLACEMENT.

4. Sprinkler line obstruction: Sprinkler systems are installed using a directional boring head. This tool bores through your yard and through most anything in its path, including your drainpipes. We often find sprinkler lines punched right through the middle of drainpipes. KEEP IN MIND, YOU DO NOT ALWAYS NEED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE LINE. WE CAN DO A PARTIAL REPLACEMENT.
